Subject Progression

This academic year (2024-2025), we have started using a new PE scheme at Fulbourn. We have carefully selected units from the scheme which allow the children to develop their abilities in PE across their time at the school, from EYFS to year 6. The scheme teaches dance, gymnastics and games as our previous scheme did, but has the added advantage of some of these being directly linked to the wider curriculum. Examples of this include links to materials and magnets in science, WWII and the Stone Age in history and fictional characters and pirates in English!

Children begin their journey in EYFS by learning the fundamentals of games and develop these in further years to use the skills taught in hockey, football, rugby and netball. They also have the opportunities to learn the beginnings of dance and gymnastics from EYFS and build on these in every year group until they leave school.

See below our school PE curriculum for 2024-2025 and the iPEP progression guides for PE.
